It's Time to Plant Vegetables for Summer Harvest!

As the temperature heats up, get your green thumb ready! Follow these tips and tricks to help you grow a beautiful, bountiful garden this summer.

Some of my favorite summer vegetables include eggplant, squash, corn, pumpkin, tomatoes, peppers, melons, and cucumbers. Before you plant, amend the soil with compost, worm castings, and organic vegetable fertilizer to support plant growth and production. I also recommends installing an in-line drip irrigation system that delivers water directly onto the soil, not on the leaves – wet leaves can be susceptible to mold and mildew during the warm summer season.

When you organize the garden, allow plenty of room for pumpkins and watermelons, ten to 20 feet in diameter for each plant. Before you plant tomatoes and cucumbers set up strong trellis or other supporting structure to keep branches and fruits off the ground.

Be sure to fertilize summer veggies all throughout the growing season, using an organic vegetable fertilizer. Follow the directions on the label.
