La Costa Canyon Mavericks vs. El Camino Wildcats,

It doesn't take much to make me stop and smell the roses, but this picture taken by Kevin Mummau, just gets to us football parents.

It happened after the game.  It was a perfect fall night in Southern California, the air was crisp, with just enough moisture to warrant a sweater.  The two teams seemed to be fighting for that ball, the entire night.  When you sit with your friends and you ring your bells and clap your hands, it doesn't matter what the score is.   What you want and what you get in football don't always match up.  But its the little things that make a seemingly innocent Friday night into a powerful moment, and one for the memories.

After the game, the boys from both teams separate and go to their prospective coaches. Nothing unusual at this point.  However a few minutes later, we now see these two teams together, kneeling, with their heads down, in what seemed to be a prayer.  A prayer or was it a moment of reflection or acknowledgment that there is more to this night than football. There is God, families, friends, ourselves, tragedy, and hope.
