Man Fatally Hit By Coaster Train In North County
The deadly crash happened about a half-mile north of the Solana Beach Transit Center.

SOLANA BEACH, CA – A man was fatally struck by a Coaster train Monday evening in Solana Beach, according to authorities.
Deputies responded around 7:20 p.m. to 105 North Cedros Avenue, where the man had walked onto the tracks in front of the train, according to San Diego County Sheriff's Deputy Christopher Campbell. The northbound train was traveling about 40 mph at the time of the crash, which happened about a half-mile north of the Solana Beach Transit Center.
The engineer hit the emergency brakes but was unable to avoid hitting the man, Campbell said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity wasn't immediately available.
