Man Sideswiped by Train in Encinitas, Suffers Minor Injuries

Officials said the man suffered minor injuries to his right hand and was treated at the scene.

ENCINITAS, CA – A man who was struck by a train only suffered minor injuries Tuesday in Encinitas, San Diego County Sheriff’s officials said.

The man, believed to be about 20 years old, was on the tracks just west of San Elijo Avenue and Dublin Drive in Encinitas when the northbound Coaster approached at about 50 mph just before 3 p.m., sheriff's officials said. According to officials, The engineer applied the emergency bakes and warning horn but was not able to avoid the collision.

Officials said the man suffered minor injuries to his right hand. Medics treated the man at the scene.
