MiraCosta College Theatre Presents 'Urinetown'
In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets.

MiraCosta College Theatre Department presents the musical comedy, “Urinetown,” a side-splitting send-up of greed, love, revolution (and musicals!) in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. The play opens March 11 at the MiraCosta College Theatre, located at 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside. Tracy Williams will direct.
In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Among the people, a hero decides he’s had enough, and plans a revolution to lead everyone to freedom.
Play dates are scheduled for March 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. and March 12, 13, 19 and 20 at 2 p.m. General admission is $18; seniors/staff, $15; students, $13. A preview performance is scheduled for March 10 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the preview performance are $13 for all seats. Children under the age of 5 are not admitted to the theatre.
