MiraCosta College Theatre Presents Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike
MiraCosta College Theatre Department presents a witty and incisive new farce for our modern world.

MiraCosta College Theatre Department presents the comedy, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, a witty and incisive new farce for our modern, hyper-connected world. The play opens November 13 at the MiraCosta College Theatre, located at 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside. Eric Bishop will direct.
Award-winning playwright Christopher Durang turns Chekhov on his head in this tale of life in bucolic Bucks County, PA, where Vanya and Sonia have frittered their lives away in their family’s farmhouse full of regret, angst and the alarmingly ambiguous prophecies of their addled housecleaner Cassandra. Enter their sister, self-absorbed movie star Masha, with her prized boy-toy Spike, and the stage is set for an absurd weekend of general hilarity and global warming. The Broadway sensation of 2013, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike delights audiences with its abundant comic twists while paying loving homage to Chekhov’s classic themes of loss and longing.
The cast stars Kyle Dowdy as Vanya, Brianna Russavage as Sonia, Rosie Gordon as Masha, Jonah Duhe as Spike, Lily Thaisz as Nina, and Emily Neifert as Cassandra.
Play dates are scheduled for November 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. and November 15, 21 and 22 at 2 p.m. General admission is $16; seniors/staff, $13; students, $11. A preview performance is scheduled for November 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the preview performance are $11 for all seats. Children under the age of 5 are not admitted to the theatre.
