MiraCosta to Offer Phlebotomy Technician Training

MCC Community Education is proud to offer this opportunity for those seeking to enter the medical field as a CPT1 phlebotomy technician

MiraCosta College Community Education and workforce Development, in partnership with Family Health Services, is proud to offer this excellent opportunity for those seeking to enter the medical field as a CPT1 phlebotomy technician.

Students are required to complete:

  • A minimum of 20-hours in basic phlebotomy
  • A minimum of 20-hours in advanced phlebotomy
  • A minimum 40-hour laboratory course in applied phlebotomy
  • 20-120 hours of clinical externship in a health-care setting.

Students who pass the course will also be eligible to take a certification examination offered by the National Health Career Association (NHA), offered in class at the conclusion of the course. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be issued a state-approved training certificate.

Fee for the course is $2,750. GI Bill and WIOA funding approved. NOTE: National exam fee of $90, plus application fee of $100, and all immunization and background checks are not included in the tuition fee and must be paid by the student.

Location: MiraCosta College’s Technology Career Institute, 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad.

Class dates: Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays, 2/22–4/29 (no class on 3/25), 5–8 p.m.

Clinical externships will be provided and supervised by MiraCosta phlebotomy program staff.
