September 19, 2013 – Encinitas, CA – Karey Jaeger, M.Ed., was named Director of Edison Academy on Encinitas Boulevard. With more than 20 years of experience in the field of Special Education, Ms. Jaeger is eager to carry on the philosophy of the school’s late founder, Linda J. Wulle, who believed that academic success is within the grasp of every student.
Ms. Jaeger holds three valid California teaching credentials - two in Special Education as well as one authorizing her to teach Multiple Subjects. With administrative experience in both public and private schools, and as an experienced ABA therapy provider (“behavior coach”), Ms. Jaeger is a natural fit for Edison Academy, which serves students in grades 3 through 8 with mild to moderate learning challenges. Paul Wulle, director of Edison’s mainstream sister school, Rancho Encinitas Academy, says, “The staff at Edison Academy is very happy Ms. Jaeger has joined our team. Her expertise and enthusiasm is welcome and will no doubt be beneficial to our faculty and the students we serve.”
Ms. Jaeger is excited to be leading a program that uses a multi-faceted approach to teaching and learning and notes that in many schools, students with learning challenges such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and difficulty paying attention do not receive the support they need to be successful.

“All students are capable of learning if they are taught using the appropriate methods and materials,” says Jaeger. “At Edison Academy, students with learning difficulties benefit from instruction that is individualized and paced to accommodate different rates of learning. Academic skills are reinforced by strategies that enable the student to learn the process by which a task may be successfully accomplished. Learning how to learn, how to prepare and take tests, how to enhance memory skills, how to work cooperatively and how to problem solve are some of the skills that are learned on a daily basis,” she adds.

Ms. Jaeger replaces Dolly Peponides, who served at Edison Academy for more than 20 years as an Educational Specialist and as Director following Linda Wulle’s untimely passing in 2009. Ms. Peponides has moved into a private Educational Therapy practice where she helps students in a one-on-one setting. Edison Academy is housed on the campus of Rancho Encinitas Academy, a K-8 private school. For more information visit www.edisonacademy.com
