Orange County Car Chase Ends In Cardiff

BREAKING: A driver was arrested Friday in Cardiff after leading a pursuit from Orange County into San Diego County.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – A driver was arrested Friday in Cardiff after leading a pursuit from Orange County into San Diego County.

Officers attempted to stop the female driver for a traffic violation near California State University, Fullerton, but the driver fled, according to the California Highway Patrol. Although the Toyota Corolla ran over spike strips as it entered the San Onofre area, the driver continued south on Interstate 5 into San Diego County.

The driver exited the freeway around 6:15 a.m. at Birmingham Drive. She pulled into the parking lot of a Jack-in-the-Box at the corner of Birmingham Drive and San Elijo Avenue, where she surrendered and was taken into custody.

Her name was not immediately released.

The car chase caused slowed traffic for the morning commute on both sides of I-5 in North County.
