Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train In Encinitas

ENCINITAS, CA — A pedestrian was fatally hit by a train Wednesday in Encinitas, authorities said Thursday.

A northbound North County Transit District Coaster train struck the person around 6:30 p.m. near the 1500 block of North Coast Highway 101, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff's Sgt. Jason King said. The person's name, age and gender were not released.
