Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train In Encinitas
The pedestrian was hit and killed by an Amtrak train.

ENCINITAS, CA — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train Thursday in Encinitas.
An Amtrak train struck the person at about 5:20 a.m. near the 1000 block North Coast Highway 101, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The pedestrian died at the scene, sheriff's Corporal Jason Burk said.
The person's name, age and gender were not released.

About two hours later, another pedestrian was fatally struck by a Sprinter train in Vista.
Anyone with information about either deadly collision was asked to call the sheriff's department's non-emergency line at 858-565-5200.
