San Diego County Sheriff's Department: Update: Deputy Involved Shooting – Vista

The Sheriff's Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the deputy involved shooting involving Omar Rojas. On September 30, 2021, Rojas was released from the hospital and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. He is currently in custody and charged with 245(c) PC – Assault with a Deadly Weapon Upon a Peace Officer, 69 PC – Resist Executive Officer, and 594(b)(2) PC – Felony Vandalism.

The deputy involved in this shooting is identified as Deputy Justin Williams. Deputy Williams has been employed with SDSD for about eleven-months and is currently assigned to the Vista Patrol Station. As in all deputy involved shootings, the deputy in this case is currently on administrative assignment until he is cleared to return to full duty.
