San Dieguito Union High School District Selects New Superintendent
Eric Dill has served as the district's interim superintendent since July.
ENCINITAS, CA – The San Dieguito Union High School District Board has selected Eric Dill as the district’s new superintendent. Dill has served as interim superintendent since July 1, 2016.
“We have been impressed with Mr. Dill’s leadership of the district since he assumed the responsibility of interim superintendent last summer and are pleased that he has agreed to fulfill this role permanently,” school board president Amy Herman said in a press release.
Dill joined the district in 2001. He was promoted to associate superintendent of business services in 2010. He as also served as executive director of business services and director of risk management of the district, which serves seventh- through 12th-grade students in the communities of Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar, Cardiff, Rancho Santa Fe and surrounding areas.

Dill did not initially apply for the position, and the district’s superintendent search was put on hold last fall following an unsuccessful round of interviews. The board met with Dill in closed session shortly before the winter break and unanimously decided to offer him the position permanently.
“Mr. Dill transitioned into the superintendent role effortlessly,” Herman said. “He is the right person to lead the district, continue our traditions of excellence, and build upon the student success for which our district is known.”
