About San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve

San Elijo Lagoon is one of San Diego’s largest protected coastal wetlands. The 979-acre reserve is located between Encinitas and Solana Beach, extending inland to Rancho Santa Fe. The reserve is managed by: California Department of Fish and Wildlife, County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation, and San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy.

Founded in 1987, and based in Solana Beach, the conservancy is a nonprofit land trust and the premier stewardship organization for San Elijo Lagoon.
