San Elijo Lagoon is in need of a complete restoration due to sedimentation and water pollution from current and historical infrastructure, such as I-5 and the dike. A restored wetland will re-establish the lagoon’s natural water filtration, return fish nurseries, provide mudflat habitat for migrating birds, and create cleaner beaches. More information is online: www.SanElijo.org/Restoration

San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy is the nonprofit land trust for San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve. Together with lead agencies, County of San Diego and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and 11 stakeholder groups, we are in the final planning phase of a large-scale project to restore the reserve.
