SD, World Celebrate International Surfing Day
Events are being held to celebrate the sport worldwide. Here are a few ways to love surf locally.

Wednesday marks International Surfing Day.
Started by San Clemente-based Surfrider Foundation and Surfing Magazine in 2005, more than 200 events across the globe have been organized to recognize the sport that some call spiritual.
Among them, SPY Optic got together in Carlsbad to ride waves, demo boards and give out free breakfast.

Surfrider Foundation San Diego will host a celebration and premiere of the movie Here & Now, which follows the lives of surfers around the world, at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Paradise Point Resort & Spa in Mission Bay. Surfers are invited to bring their boards and watch the paddle-in movie from the water.
The California State Assembly also recognized the day with a House Resolution 30.
