Surf Report & Forecast for May 16-17

Cleaner surf, but still small.

What are you missing if you're stuck in a cubicle right now? Not much wave action. Call it ankle- to knee-high, perhaps waist-high every once in a while, with short rides and no defined shoulders.

Tide peaks at 9:30 a.m. at 4.2 feet. With the full moon peaking tonight and into tomorrow, there's going to be some radical tide swings, with high tides almost approaching 7 feet.

Low tide fully drains  at 2:40 p.m. at 1.3 feet. After 4 p.m. or so, the tide will really start filling in fast, ultimately peaking at 6.8 feet at 9 p.m.

Maybe we'll see some chest-high sneakers as the early afternoon incoming push fills in. Wind is very calm right now but expected to bump up moderately this afternoon. The NW windswell that howled all day yesterday is gone.

For tomorrow, May 17, finally, a long-awaited bump in swell energy will arrive. A WSW will start filling in early in the morining. We could have wave heights up to 4 feet and hopefully, we'll have some solid faces to carve.

Dawn patrol tomorrow will coincide with an incoming low tide. Wake up before dawn and you should see the full moon peak at around 4 a.m. and set at 5:45 a.m.
