Encinitas Surf Report & Forecast: Nov. 1-2

Slight bump in wave height; cold and foggy morning session.

Despite a reported Great White yesterday afternoon at Beacon's, local beaches are open to surfers and swimmers.

Offshore lines are impossible to see with this morning's dense fog, which should burn off by late morning. Onshore swell looks a little crossed up and still inconsistent, though when sets do come in they're a bump higher than the last few days; call it 2-3 feet.

Water temp is still cold at 60 and may dip into the high 50s within the next couple of days with the morning's cold air temps.

Winds are calm now and should remain so throughout the day. If wind picks up, though, it will be from the SW, possibly causing some choppy conditions.

Tide is low at 8:00 a.m. at 3 feet and comes in until 2:00 p.m. when it reaches slightly over 5 feet; evening low is at 9:30 p.m. at 0.5 feet.

Sunset tonight: 5:57 p.m. Less than one week remaining of daylight saving's time.

For tomorrow, Wednesday, November 2, surf gets no bigger than today and possibly backs off a bit, back into the 1-2 foot range.
