Encinitas Surf Report & Forecast: Nov. 5-6

A significant rain event yesterday means that you’re supposed to stay out of the water for 72 hours, especially avoiding rivermouths, harbors and drain outlets, but with a crisp, sunny day with offshore winds, there are plenty of surfers ignoring that advice and enjoying some shoulder-high peaks. 

It’s a bit disorganized with SW and NW groundswells duking it out, but there are some occasional fun peaks, short-lived they might be; shoulders look to be doubling up after a fun take off. 

Tide is going out until 1:15 p.m. when it will be at 1.5 feet, draining from dawn patrol’s 5-foot high tide. Evening high is at 7:00 p.m. at just over 4 feet. 

Water temp probably feels slightly colder than 60. 

Winds are blowing offshore now at under 5 knots; winds may shift to a more onshore flow by early afternoon but they should remain light.

For tomorrow, Sunday, the 6th, mellow winds and chest-high surf should stick around.
