Surf Report & Forecast for Sept. 29-30

High tide shutting down morning sessions; conditions get better in early afternoon.

With a 7-foot high tide at around 10:40 a.m., most spots are shut down. Dominant swell energy is from the NW but there's combo direction from SW and a tropical SSE swell.

Most breaks will see chest-high sets later in the day. Low tide is at 5:30 p.m. at -0.6 feet. Sunset is at 6:36 p.m.

Red tide is still very much alive, perhaps the strongest in years.

Winds are calm right now and shouldn't pick up that much later in the day.

Water temp hovers at 64.

Unless the tropical system hits local beaches, which isn't predicted, expect the NW to fade away. There might be some occasional chest-high sets, but the call is for 2-3 foot surf max tomorrow, Friday the last day of September.
