Teen On E-Bike Seriously Injured In Crash With Van In Encinitas
The boy was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla with major injuries, authorities said.

ENCINITAS, CA — A teenager riding an electric bicycle was seriously injured in a collision with a work van Thursday in Encinitas.
The collision happened just before 6 p.m. in the 500 block of South El Camino Real, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The e-bike and van crashed when the 15-year-old boy changed lanes into the path of the van, sheriff's Lt. Karen Mullins said.
The boy was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla with major injuries, Mullins said.

Mullins said the driver of the van was not hurt and stayed at the scene to speak with deputies. Alcohol and/or drugs were not suspected in the crash.
Anyone with information, may have witnessed the collision or has cellphone or surveillance video of the crash was asked to call the North Coastal Sheriff's Station Traffic Division at 760-966-3500.
