"The True Cost" Documentary Screening & World Marketplace at The Grauer School in Encinitas

Grauer's Girl Rising Club invites the community to attend a film screening of "The True Cost" and World Marketplace on February 16!

The Grauer School's Girl Rising Club was inspired by the 2013 documentary, “Girl Rising,” which showed the transformative power of girls’ education. The club’s goal is to help provide education for girls around the world, and to explore and discuss challenges girls face abroad and at home. Grauer's Girl Rising Club invites the community to attend a screening of the documentary film, "The True Cost", which will be held on Thursday, February 16, in Meyer Hall on The Grauer School campus, located at 1500 South El Camino Real in Encinitas. From 4:00-6:00 p.m., visitors can shop at a World Marketplace and enjoy delicious East African cuisine. The film screening of “The True Cost” will take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

"The True Cost" is a documentary film about clothing. It’s about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the industry is having on our world. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost is a groundbreaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing? Filmed in countries all over the world, from the brightest runways to the darkest slums, and featuring interviews with the worlds leading influencers including Stella McCartney, Livia Firth, and Vandana Shiva, The True Cost is an unprecedented project that invites us on an eye opening journey around the world and into the lives of the many people and places behind our clothes.
