Vote-By-Mail Ballots for June Primary to Arrive Soon
Deadline for applying for an absentee ballot is 5 p.m. May 29, according to registrar's office.
Encinitas residents who have registered as mail-in voters will soon receive their ballots for the June 5 primary election.
According to the San Diego County Registrar of Voters, an estimated 724,000 vote-by-mail ballots are being distributed in the county. The deadline for applying for a mail ballot—also called an absentee ballot—is 5 p.m. May 29.
This year Encinitas voters will elect a new Third District County Supervisor. The ballot for this race will not include an incumbent, something that hasn’t happened in nearly 20 years. , and candidates vying for her seat include: Steve Danon, former chief of staff for Congressman Brian Bilbray; Carl Hilliard, Del Mar Mayor; Bryan Ziegler, an Encinitas attorney for county government; and Dave Roberts, Solana Beach Deputy Mayor. Price is a Republican, and all of the candidates running for her seat are also Republicans, except for Roberts, who is a Democrat. If Roberts is elected, he will be the first Democrat to serve on the Board of Supervisors since 1995.

At the state level, local voters will choose a new lawmaker for the 76th Assembly District. That race includes former Oceanside City Councilman Rocky Chavez, former San Dieguito school board member Sherry Hodges, and Carlsbad City Councilwoman Farrah Douglas. All three candidates are Republican.
