Yale Strom Concert and Masterclass

Violinist Yale Strom is one of the world's leading experts and performers of klezmer and Roma music. Strom will join the MiraCosta College J

A master class, sponsored by Soille San Diego Hebrew Day School and the Leichtag Foundation, will be presented prior to the concert at 3:30 p.m.

A violinist, composer, filmmaker, writer, educator, photographer and playwright, Strom is a pioneer among revivalists in conducting extensive field research in Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans among the Jewish and Rom communities since the early 1981. His research has comprised the foundation for his art, including new klezmer and classical compositions, which have been performed by orchestras and music groups in the U.S. and abroad, as well as by his own ensemble, Yale Strom & Hot Pstromi. Since 2006, Strom has been an “artist-in-residence” in the Jewish Studies Program at San Diego State University, a position specifically created for him.
