10,000 Marijuana Plants Found in Massive Valley Drug Bust

Authorities today announced the seizure of almost 2,400 pounds of marijuana and the arrests of seven people.

The operation was conducted on March 9, when officers served search warrants at three warehouses in the 8500 block of Canoga Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. "Over 10,000 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, along with a large quantity of marijuana edibles, were recovered from the three locations," a police statement said.

"Investigators seized over $7,000 ... and nearly 2,400 pounds of marijuana that included live plants and dried flowers which had an approximate wholesale value of $4.8 million."

In one warehouse, authorities "seized more than 300 pounds of liquids, chocolates, and hard candy labeled as 'infused with THC,' the active chemical in cannabis," police said.

"Evidence found at scene indicated that at least one of the warehouses was connected to a large-scale marijuana delivery service in the city of Los Angeles and surrounding areas," police said.

Seven people were arrested on suspicion of cultivation and possession for sales of marijuana, police said.
