2nd of 8 Introduction to Square Dance and Line Dance too!

June 17 is the Second of eight FREE chances to have fun while learning to Square Dance.

We are reaching out to people, especially younger people, that haven’t had much, or any, exposure to Square Dance, our American Heritage Folk Dance. We are offering a free, no obligation hour and a half, 6 to 7:30 pm, of Introduction to Square Dance for eight Sunday evenings. In an hour and a half you can learn the basics. We’ll also be interspersing some Line Dance to break up the evening. We will have some experienced dancers there to help but it might be to your benefit to bring a partner, especially men as they seem to shrivel when the word dance is spoken. Square Dancing is actually a team dance, as it takes 8 people to form one "square" of dancers. Square Dancing is very social; you won’t be dancing with one person the whole night, more like 30 to 40. It’s a non-smoking, non-alcoholic and no drugs activity where parents, grandparents, children, teachers and students can all dance together and have fun. The licensed caller, Dale Hoppers, changes the dance routine so as a side benefit; you’ll improve your listening skills.

You can come for free one night or all eight. Bring some friends or colleagues to the Wilkinson Center in Northridge and make a Sunday evening of it. A last chance is in September when our class starts, one free two hour Introduction to Square Dance.
