3-Year-Old Dies After Getting Trapped in Pickup Truck

The boy was not locked in the car, but had been playing in the yard and somehow crawled into the vehicle.

A 3-year-old boy died today after somehow getting trapped inside a car parked in front of a Sylmar home.

Paramedics were called to the home in the 14400 block of Foothill Boulevard about 3:30 p.m., according to Officer Bruce Borihanh of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section. The boy was pulled from the car and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Borihanh said the boy was not locked in the car, but had been playing in the yard and somehow crawled into the vehicle. It was unclear how long he was in the vehicle.

The boy’s parents were the ones who called paramedics, Borihanh said.
