ENCINO, CA — About a dozen cars had their tires flattened by metal debris Monday on the 405 Freeway in the Encino area.
The trouble was reported just before 6 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway near Skirball Center Drive in Sepulveda Pass, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Metal rods or pipes in the roadway had flattened the tires of several vehicles and tow trucks were called to assist the stranded motorists.
Only one southbound lane was closed as a result of the damaged cars, but traffic was still backed up to Roscoe Boulevard.
All lanes were reopened by 7:30 a.m.
