ENCINO, CA — A 31-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday after being struck by a stray bullet in Encino that came from an unknown direction, authorities said.
The victim was walking at 10 p.m. Wednesday near the river wash area located between Woodley Avenue and Burbank Boulevard when he heard the sound of a gunshot ring out before realizing that he had been shot, a Los Angeles Police Department Spokesman told City News Service.
Video from the scene showed paramedics pulling the victim out of the bushes and lifting him onto a gurney with a sheet as police quickly searched the surrounding area for a suspect.
Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where he had stable vital signs.
