Burglary Spree Plagues Encino Salons

A pair of smash and grab burglars are suspected of hitting three salons along Ventura Boulevard in one night.

A rash of smash and grab burglaries plaguing the Valley may be connected, Los Angeles Police Department detectives said Friday.

Three burglaries targeting salons in quick succession in Encino and Studio City over the weekend may have been the work of a single team of thieves.

The burglaries all occurred late Saturday or early Sunday along a stretch of Van Nuys Boulevard. Detectives are preparing to release security footage of a Studio City’s Studio 818 where a pair of suspects backed a late model Honda Ridgeline up to the salon, used a rock to smash through a window and made off with money, purses and beauty supplies, said LAPD Officer Ricardo Hernandez

Two suspects are described as 25 to 35-year-old males, said Hernandez. One was wearing a Dodgers cap and a bandana over his face.

“There were other burglaries in that area around same time with same MO,” added Hernandez. “We are trying to see if they are connected now. We suspect that they are.”
