Chris Brown's Illegal Monkey Seized
Chris Brown could face jail time for his illegal pet monkey, according to reports.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Officials recently seized a pet monkey from rapper Chris Brown's home in Tarzana after he posted photos of the animal on social media. ABC7 reported that California Fish and Wildlife Department received "multiple calls" about the Instagram photos.
"The Fish and Wildlife Department then obtained a search warrant for illegal possession of a restricted species and presented it to Brown's attorney. Agents went to Brown's home Jan. 2 and seized the monkey as evidence," ABC7 reported.
The news station said Brown was not home when the monkey was seized by officials.

USA Today reported the monkey, named Fiji, is a capuchin. A search of Brown's Instagram showed two posts that showed Fiji, one with his 3-year-old daughter, and another of the monkey next to shoes.
"Brown could face a misdemeanor charge carrying a potential six-month jail sentence," USA Today reported.

This isn't Brown's first encounter with the law. He's been accused of punching a photographer in 2017. He was also accused of pointing a gun at a model, which prompted a standoff with police in 2016.
Brown was also arrested in 2009 for a domestic violence case involving his then-girlfriend, singer Rihanna.
