Dr. Les Latner Lends Foreign Aid to Dental Students

Dr. Les Latner, owner of Westside Dental Associates, for the past six years has been educating foreign students with a desire to learn about cosmetic dentistry in America. Dr. Latner recently welcomed a student from England, whom he will be instructing over the summer in his office. “The students stay 2-3 weeks and observe our dentists in action, or as we call it, ‘shadowing,’” said Dr. Latner, who has been practicing for over 30 years and named a top dentist by LA Magazine for the past three consecutive years. “They can also ask questions about anything new or of which they are unsure.”

Dr. Latner’s current protégé, Alice N, is a student at Newcastle University in England who has an interest in cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry. “Dr. Latner has a good reputation, and the previous students thoroughly enjoyed their trip and recommended him, especially liking that he made an effort to take them out and about in LA, like to Dodger games,” said Alice. “American dentistry is very different from dentistry in the UK, so it is interesting to observe the differences in treatment.”

In addition to hosting foreign students, Dr. Latner has been a volunteer instructor at UCLA for the past 21 years, teaching pediatric dentistry. Furthermore, he is on the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s Charitable Foundation. “Through the foundation, we fix the broken smiles of victims of domestic violence,” said Dr. Latner.
