Encino 14's Split Doubleheader, One Win Away From Western Regional

Encino defeated San Clemente 9-3 Saturday evening in game one. Mitch Kerner threw 96 pitches and Anthony Mayorga closed in the seventh inning to preserve the victory.

Encino lost 6-5 to San Clemente in a heartbreaker. Encino gave up four runs on three errors after walking the first two batters in the fourth inning. Encino trailed 6-1 heading into the sixth inning, but fought back with three runs to close the margin to 6-4. In the top of the seventh inning, Encino started a rally scoring one more run to make it 6-5, but fell just short when they were unable to score the game-tying run.
Encino plays San Clemente tonight at 7 p.m. in Riverside in a winner-takes-all game.
