Encino Homeowner Opens Fire On Intruders

Police are looking for three men who tried to break into an Encino home overnight but were confronted by a shotgun-wielding homeowner.

ENCINO, CA — Three home invasion burglars met their match in Encino Thursday when the homeowner opened fire on them with a shotgun.

It all happened shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 3400 block of Red Rose Drive, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison.

"The homeowner heard glass breaking, retrieved a shotgun and confronted the suspects," Madison said.

Three men in their 20s or 30s had smashed a window to enter the home. The homeowner opened fire on them, but all three intruders were able to escape, added Madison.

"We don't have any indication that anyone was hit," he added.

Police were combing nearby hospitals for potential gunshot victims overnight.
