Fire Damages Tarzana Commercial Building

Firefighters tackled a blaze at a two-story building in Tarzana early Saturday morning.

TARZANA, CA — A fire damaged a two-story commercial building Saturday in Tarzana, fire officials said.

The blaze broke out at 2:30 a.m. at 18629 W. Topham St., and was knocked down in an hour and 18 minutes, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

It took more than 125 firefighters to battle the blaze, Scott said.

Firefighters used large hose streams from the exterior and poured water on the 200 feet by 100 feet structure.

"Firefighters then carefully transitioned from a defensive fight, and allowed two hand lines to make an interior attack and ensure full extinguishment," Scott said.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire was under investigation and the loss was being tabulated.
