Firefighters Tackle Encino Blaze
An Encino family arrived home to find their house on fire Sunday.

Firefighters put out a blaze in the garage and attic of an Encino home in 31 minutes tonight, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 9:13 p.m. at 3064 Elvill Dr., Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
Fifty-three firefighters responded to the blaze in the one-story, 3,430- square-foot. home built in 1964, Humphrey said.

No injuries were reported. The home was not occupied at the time of the fire, he said.
The family came home to find firefighters trying to contain the damage to the garage and attic. They arranged to stay with relatives.

The damage was estimated at $80,000 to the structure and $50,000 to contents and the cause was determined to have been accidental from “carelessness with smoking materials,” Humphrey said.
