Flaming Palm Ignites Apartment Balcony

A fire in a palm tree extended onto a second-floor balcony of an apartment building in Lake Balboa Friday, but firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and no one was hurt.

Firefighters sent to the 13300 block of W. Vanowen Street about 10:30 a.m. doused the flames in about 15 minutes, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
