Great Escape: Grilled Cheese and Beer

Check out a place where two basics get a wee bit fancy.

A night on the town doesn’t have to involve forcing your feet into pretty pumps and eating dainty food so your lovely outfit doesn’t rip at the seams (landing you in jail, costing you more in babysitter fees, plus imagine the humiliating FB check-in). Sometimes a night on the town can involve good old-fashioned grilled cheese and beer.

Yep, grilled cheese and beer. Of course, because it's a date, it should be a wee bit fancier. That is where Andrew, of in Santa Monica, comes in. A few evenings every month, this cheese expert pairs different kinds of micro-brews from around the world with yummy cheeses melted onto equally delicious bread. You’ll leave the store quite full after eating Munster Gerome on a French baguette partnered with Allagash Tripel, or a Fontina d’Aosta-Baby Parmigiano-Pesto-Prosciutto on olive bread sandwich paired with La Fin Du Monde.

You'll not only leave with a full stomach but with a fair amount of knowledge that you show off later! The cost is $45 per person (plus tax) and the events fill up quickly. But, thankfully, Andrew holds them often (with different menus), so you should be able to get a seat at the table for your sandwich, beer and knowledge!
