LAPD to Conduct DUI Checkpoint Nearby on Saturday
Officers will be setting up shop at Sherman Way and Yolanda Avenue.

The Los Angeles Police Department will set up a DUI checkpoint Saturday to catch impaired drivers nearby in Reseda.
According to a press release, the checkpoint will be at Sherman Way and Yolanda Avenue from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
“It’s tragic how many people lose their lives to drunk driving,” said Sgt. Sean Karmody of the Traffic Coordination Section in a statement. “If the news reported that more than 10,000 people were killed in a preventable crime spree, the American public would be outraged.”

In 2012, there were 10,322 people killed in drunk-driving crashes in the United States, officials said. Over Labor Day weekend that year, 147 lost their lives fatalities that weekend.
