Man Gets 4 Years For Shotgun Killing Of Girlfriend In Tarzana

A Tarzana man was sentenced to four years in prison Monday for shooting his girlfriend to death in Tarzana: Breaking.

TARZANA, CA - A 24-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison Monday for the shotgun killing of his girlfriend in Tarzana in 2015.

Dominick Teret pleaded no contest in July to the involuntary manslaughter of 21-year-old Yesenia Baca on Dec. 20, 2015.

Teret shot Baca in the chest and then called 911 to report an accidental shooting, police said. He later told investigators that it was a suicide, a claim contradicted by a coroner's ruling of homicide.

A year earlier, police were called to Teret's apartment in the 6200 block of Reseda Boulevard -- the same place Baca was shot -- to handle a report of domestic violence, the Los Angeles Times reported.
