Police Shoot Suspected Kidnapper, Killer In Tarzana; Boy Found Safe

The suspect in a murder and kidnapping manhunt was shot and killed in Tarzana Tuesday night: BREAKING.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A kidnapping and murder suspect was reportedly shot and killed by police Tuesday evening in Tarzana following a day-long manhunt across Southern California.

According to multiple reports, the fatally wounded suspect Konstantin Morozov who is suspected of fatally shooting the mother of his 9-year-old son Daniel Morozov Monday in Santa Maria in northern Santa Barbara County and abducting the boy.

The shooting occurred about 6:45 p.m. in the 5500 block of Lindley Avenue near Killion Street in the Tarzana/Encino area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Morozov, 48, was in critical condition when taken to a hospital, LAPD Officer Mike Lopez said. He died at the hospital.

Daniel was the subject of an Amber Alert that was in effect in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, but after the officer-involved shooting, the California Highway Patrol announced that the boy had been located safe and the alert was deactivated.

Officers went to the first shooting scene at 230 N. College Drive in Santa Maria Monday night and found the victim dead, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.

Police told the Los Angeles Times the suspect is the boy's father, and he is wanted for allegedly killing the child's mother.
