Pursuit Ends In Encino With One In Custody

From City News Service

A suspect who allegedly led police on a brief pursuit on the westbound 101 Freeway in a stolen car was in custody today.

California Highway Patrol officers attempted to pull over a 2012 Toyota Camry around 1:50 a.m. near the Van Nuys Boulevard exit for a traffic violation, but the driver failed to stop and attempted to flee, reaching speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour, said CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos.

Officers ran the car's license plate number and learned that it was stolen, Villalobos said.

At 1:53 a.m., the suspect exited Hayvenhurst Avenue and pulled over near the Libbit Avenue intersection where he surrendered to police, Villalobos said.

Officers were searching the immediate area for any other possible suspects that may have been involved, he said.
