Stubborn Attic Fire Rips Through Tarzana Home

It took firefighters 45 minutes to put out the blaze at a Tarzana home Friday night.

TARZANA, CA -- Firefighters needed almost 45 minutes to knockdown a stubborn fire that burned through the attic and roof of a home in Tarzana tonight.

The blaze that extensively damaged a house under renovation at 19430 W. Rosita St. was reported at 7:17 p.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

The fire damaged multiple sections of the home, including an addition that had created a split level structure, Stewart said.

The house was unoccupied at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported, Stewart said.

The department dispatched 54 firefighters to the scene and knocked down the flames in 42 minutes, she added.
