Pet Food Express is an independent chain of pet food stores. Our mantra is: doing well by doing good. We give away more than 1.5 million dollars a year to pet rescues and shelters in Northern California, and we are hoping to make some life-long commitments in the Southern California area.

We have 52 stores in Northern & Southern California, and we have been voted Best Places to Work by the Bay Area News Group for 4 years running. All employees go through extensive pet nutrition training (we call it Pet Food Express University). It also is the ONLY pet retailer with 4.5 stars on Yelp! and has been compared as the "Nordstrom" of customer service in the pet industry.

The two owners, Michael and Mark, are excited to be opening their 2nd store in Southern California. They think Tarzana is a perfect fit. They plan to open the first of four stores this year in Southern California (Pasadena first, Tarzana, Rolling Hills and Beverly Hills to start) with plans to open more in the coming years.

This is not a big publicly traded company, but rather it is still owned by two guys who love pets (both have rescue dogs). They have adopted the highest pet food standards in the industry, and they have banned certain "legal but very suspect" ingredients in pet food -- taking the guesswork out of the process for pet owners.

We have teamed up with several animal rescue groups in Southern California. We'd love to find out more about which groups you work with and which ones need the most help.

We also will be bringing three other fundraisers to Southern California this year: Cover Your K9 in July, Save a Kitten in May and Giving Tree in December.
