Want to Make Sure Your Child's Safety Seat Is Properly Installed?
In the Valley, there's an officer for that.
Los Angeles police certified as child safety seat technicians will be available by appointment at the Valley Traffic Division on Thursdays to help parents properly install the car seats, which are required for children younger than 8 years old.
Officers will be able to handle about four appointments per hour between 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., police said.
Babies must be placed in the back seat in rear-facing safety seats until they reach at least 20 pounds. Booster seats are recommended for children who are 8 years old or older, but less than 4-feet-9-inches tall.
