Westmark Teacher Named C-SPAN Fellow
Mary Sue-Maurer will help develop new ways to incorporate the channel, which primarily broadcasts government proceedings, in classrooms.

Mary Sue Maurer, who teaches government at , has been tapped to be a part of C-SPAN’s 2011 Teacher Fellowship program.
She will spend six weeks this summer in Washington D.C. with two other teachers developing new ways of incorporating the public affairs network into classrooms across the country.
"I’ll be focusing primarily on new technologies in the classroom such as blogging and podcasting using C-SPAN," said Maurer, who is also a Calabasas councilwoman.

Maurer recently launched a blog where her students commented on the current conflict in Libya based on what they watched on C-SPAN.
"C-SPAN is an amazing resource," Maurer said. "I consider it the cornerstone of democracy in America."
