• A California Craft Beer Icon Found a Buyer. Its Home Brewery Is Still Shutting Down and Eliminating 220 Jobs (inc.com) — Stone Brewing is shutting down all three of its Escondido locations, cutting about 220 jobs as production moves to Paso Robles and Kansas City. Sapporo USA says it hasn't found a long-term solution for the Escondido site, and the popular Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens will also close, ending a major chapter in the city's craft beer scene.
   

• New programs, bachelor's degree mark Palomar College fall semester (northcoastcurrent.com) — Escondido students using Palomar College's local Education Center now have access to the school's first bachelor's degree, new career-focused programs, and an expanded Promise program that can cover two years of tuition. Enrollment is up slightly this fall, and new flexible online pathways plus added financial support aim to help more North County students finish their degrees close to home.
