2. ESCONDIDO: Daring Greatly headlines free Sept. 11 concert (northcoastcurrent.com) — Escondido residents can catch a free Hidden City Sounds concert by Daring Greatly this Friday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. The show on Lyric Court runs until 9 p.m., features Americana duo Lonesome Roses, and offers free admission and parking, giving locals an easy night out close to home.
3. Sheriff's K-9 Injured During Arrest (northcountydailystar.com) — A sheriff's K-9 named Nike is recovering after being stabbed in the face while helping Escondido police arrest a burglary suspect early Saturday on South Orange Street. Officers and deputies quickly subdued the man, and Nike received emergency treatment in San Marcos for multiple facial wounds before being released to heal at home, while the suspect now faces several felony charges.
4. California 'Jay Leno Law' could exempt more classic cars from smog checks (cbs8.com) — A statewide proposal dubbed the 'Jay Leno Law,' reported from Escondido, could eventually exempt many 1976–1985 collector cars from California's regular smog checks, starting in 2028. Local classic-car owners would need special insurance and strict mileage limits, while environmental critics warn the expanded exemptions could worsen air quality across the state.
