1. Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Escondido (patch.com) — A 47-year-old Escondido man died Monday night after stepping into traffic on northbound Centre City Parkway near Ninth Avenue, where he was struck by a vehicle. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, and investigators closed the roadway for about four hours while documenting the fatal collision.
2. National University opens new center at Escondido YMCA (times-advocate.com) — Escondido residents now have a new National University Nest Healthy Learning Center inside the Escondido YMCA's Campus for Community Well-Being, offering co-working space, tech access, and on-site childcare. The center is designed for busy adult learners, including military-connected families, by bundling childcare, academic advising, and wellness support to help them stay on track with degrees and careers.
3. Intimate Classics announces 2026–2027 season (valleycenter.com) — A new season of Intimate Classics is coming to the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, bringing six concerts with internationally known musicians from October through June. Local classical fans can hear top pianists, string quartets, and cellists in an intimate setting, with discounts available for multi-concert packages. All performances happen in the Center Theater in Escondido.
4. RFK Jr. announces $51 million in dental grants at Escondido community clinic (sandiegouniontribune.com) — A federal visit to an Escondido Neighborhood health center brought news of up to $2 million in dental grant funding to better serve patients with neurodevelopmental disorders locally. The initiative will help design quieter, more accommodating dental environments, while national debate continues over fluoride policy and how best to prevent tooth decay in children.
