Beach House has ended with a tentative agreement to keep the artwork. After homeowners objected and appealed, city leaders and the artist reached a compromise, and Escondido will now craft a policy requiring permission before depicting private property or likenesses in public art.

Three crowned in 2nd annual Ms. Escondido Timeless Pageant (times-advocate.com) β Escondido residents just crowned new Ms. Escondido, Ms. Spirit of Escondido, and Ms. Escondido Timeless at a local pageant that raises scholarship funds for young women in town. The new court will mentor the Miss Escondido Court and plans community projects focused on seniors and military families, including possible events at assisted living facilities and the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.

Developer to build 70 townhomes near Escondido Transit Center (10news.com) β Work has begun in Escondido at Quince and Valley Parkway to replace the old Gateway Plaza with 70 new three-story townhomes near the Escondido Transit Center. The Crossings community supports a more walkable lifestyle and helps the city address state housing targets, though it will not include designated affordable units, raising questions about who will benefit from the new homes.

Rider Dies in Escondido Motorcycle Collision near McLane Lane (pacificattorneygroup.com) β A motorcyclist died after colliding with a Toyota Camry Wednesday afternoon on El Norte Parkway near McLane Lane in Escondido's Country Club area. Emergency crews found the rider badly injured, and authorities closed the roadway for several hours while investigating. The California Highway Patrol is still determining how the fatal crash occurred.

One Injured in Escondido Crash involving Semi-Truck on I-15 near SR-78 (pacificattorneygroup.com) β Drivers in Escondido should know that a three-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck briefly shut down several northbound I-15 lanes near the SR-78 interchange late Wednesday morning. One person suffered minor injuries and was taken to Palomar Medical Center, and all lanes reopened by about 12:14 p.m. as CHP and fire crews cleared the scene.
